It would’ve been nice to add more secret stuff here and there, but that’s a minor complaint compared to the true testament that Studio MDHR has put together here. It’s packed with new challenges, lots of fun additions, and some of the most imaginative boss battles to date. But we can’t think of anyone that wasn’t charmed by that piece of work, so, yeah, this is pretty much for everyone.Įven with its immense challenge and somewhat short length (again, DLC, not a sequel), The Delicious Last Course is a wonderful add-on. So will anyone dislike The Delicious Last Course? Well, if you weren’t too fond of the original Cuphead, you probably won’t come back for this. This Cuphead Runneth Over With More Delights Along with that, the sound effects are top-notch and the other little tidbits (even geese honking) are pure and very well done. Once again, the composers deliver a fun jazz-style soundtrack that entertains at every turn. This game just looks remarkable around every turn, even after all these years of being used to its style. Like the original Cuphead stages, The Last Delicious Course impresses with its 1940’s style visuals, including smooth animations, neat little touches and some interesting effects, ranging from rotating “living” planes to flocks of geese that can be more lethal than expected. Since Studio MDHR took the time to make its add-on special, we can honestly say that it shows. And it’s easy to swap out as her, too, though beating the game is a different story. Not to mention Chalice’s auto-parry with her dash is a nice touch, making her an ideal character. The Crackshot weapon is a nice touch, allowing you to hit enemies with homing shots even when you’re not facing them. You’ve got all sorts of challenges here, including a slew of stages where you can only use your parry techniques (including a horse knight that doesn’t take it easy on you), as well as encounters involving a large ogre and his minions, as well as flying dogs and a spectacular showdown with an actual cow-boy.įortunately, Studio MDHR’s added some neat new features with this add-on. However, as before, you can’t fully complete the game or even get to the last boss without beating them on Regular. You could play through each stage on Simple difficulty just to open up the new island that’s introduced. But, if you’re like us and couldn’t get enough of it, consider this a must-have morsel.Īs before, The Delicious Last Course is quite tough. So is this addition worth the $8 asking price? It really depends on how much you like Cuphead. All the while, you’re doing stuff for a baker that may have a sweet solution to Chalice’s problem – or so we think.
